6pm-10pm Choral Ensembles Auditions Brodie 208 (Choral Rehearsal Room)
If you are interested in becoming a member of Chamber Singers, Spectrum Women's Ensemble, or the Geneseo
Festival Chorus, you need to audition. (Additional audition dates are
8/27 7pm-10pm and 8/29 7pm-10pm.) There are openings in all the choirs,
for all voice types. If you're interested in singing, every effort
will be made to find a place for you in one of our terrific choirs! If
you have any questions about auditions or cannot make one of the times
listed, please feel free to contact Dr. Gerard Floriano, Director of Choral Music.
For The Audition:
You do not need to prepare special music to audition and you only need to come on one of the nights. Each audition will take about five minutes or less. If you have prepared a classical or musical theatre song, please come tonight because our pianist will be there.
About the Choirs:
Chamber Singers - a select mixed chorus of about 40 singers, rehearses T, W, R from 4pm-5:30pm. Highlights for the 2012-2013 season include a performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra and the Fairport High School Select Choir. Chamber Singers will embark upon their 12th international concert tour in May-June 2013 with concerts in Spain and Portugal.
Spectrum Women's Ensemble - a women's choir of about 35-40 singers, rehearses T, R from 2:30pm-3:45pm. This season's highlights include a joint concert series with Concentus Women's Chorus. Founded in 2000, Concentus has quickly become Western New York's premier women's choir based in Rochester, NY. The April 2013 concerts will be held in Geneseo and Rochester.
Geneseo Festival Chorus - a mixed Masterworks Chorus of about 75 singers, comprised of student, faculty, staff, and community members. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7pm-9pm. This semester, Festival Chorus will be performing the 19th century choir masterwork Brahms' "A German Requiem" with professional soloists and the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Professor James Walker.
