The Program
SUNY Geneseo's exchange program is housed in the School of Sociology and Anthropology at Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) in Guangzhou. The School of Sociology and Anthropology at SYSU offers four to five courses taught in English every semester; exact course offerings will vary semester to semester. Additionally, students can opt to take Mandarin language courses at the university's International Chinese School. More information about SYSU can be found on their website.

The city of Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong province, and is located about 75 miles northwest of Hong Kong, in southern China. Guangzhou is part of the Pearl River Delta and has a subtropical climate.The University
Sun Yat-Sen University is a comprehensive, multi-disiplinary university, with about 5,300 students studying on four campuses in the greater Guanghzhou area. Courses are offered in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, medical sciences, pharmacology, and management sciences. SUNY Geneseo's main exchange is with the School of Sociology and Anthropology at Sun Yat-Sen, but there may be courses available in other departments, upon arrangement.
