All employers, including Geneseo, must adhere to the federal law which requires hiring only American citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States. Therefore, we must verify the employment eligibility of all student employees hired for on-campus positions. Students must complete an I-9 form with the Payroll Office before they begin working. The most common documents used to verify your eligibility are a driver's license and a social security card. We can also accept a birth certificate in place of the social security card. A valid U.S. passport can be used in place of the two forms of I.D. All documents must be originals - photocopies and faxes are NOT accepted. Check with our office for other acceptable documents. International students should go to the International Student Office to receive a letter verifying their eligiblity to work on campus. Other non-U.S. citizens please check with this office for a list of acceptable documentation for authorization to work. Generally, completing one I-9 form will be sufficient for any job while at Geneseo. Please note that Campus Auxiliary Services is considered a separate employer from SUNY Geneseo. Students working for CAS and SUNY Geneseo must have 2 separate I9s on file. | |
