The Parents Council serves as a bridge of communication between Geneseo parents and the College's administration, faculty, student body, alumni, and friends. Members of the Parents Council serve as spokespeople for the entire parent constituency.
The Parents Council meets two times per year, once during Parents Weekend in the fall, and once in the spring, during Siblings Weekend. For more information on the Parents Council, please contact Tammy Ingram at 245-5570.
The Parents Council enriches and enhances the educational experience of Geneseo students by focus support to the College in four key areas:
Members of the Parents Council are asked to advocate for the programs and funding that allow SUNY Geneseo to offer the finest liberal arts education possible. Parents contact local and state legislators to share the story and communicate SUNY Geneseo's position on a variety of topics.
Members of the Parents Council make the College a philanthropic priority, supporting the Parents Fund with a leadership gift that will make a difference for Geneseo. The Council also advises on fundraising communications and makes calls to other parents, asking for their financial support. Contributions to the Parents Fund help make possible the outstanding educational opportunities that are part of each student's Geneseo experience, and give the College a critical edge in continuing to provide a superior liberal arts education.
Members of the Parents Council are a valuable resource, providing feedback and suggestions for the parent email newsletter and Parents Web page, and serving as panelists during First-Year Orientation.
Members of the Parents Council assist with our admissions effort by serving as a resource to answer questions from parents of potential Geneseo students. Many parents host/sponsor first-year send off picnics in their communities.
