Advice for New Students: Be open to new things - new people, new ideas, new experiences. Don't be afraid to take a class that's not in your major, or join a club that sounds interesting. Be open to people who are different from you. Going out your comfort zone can be a little unsettling at first, but making that "leap of faith" can be so rewarding. It can unlock new opportunities you never knew were there and you would NEVER have found out about if you didn't make that leap. New knowledge, amazing experiences and great friends can all be yours as long as you're willing to take that first step!

I would also encourage you to reach out of their comfort zone (at orientation and in the future) and try something new. This is a great time to grow and explore new things and Geneseo is the perfect place to do so.

Advice for New Students: First of all, meet as many people as you can during orientation. These people will help you a lot in the transition to college. Plus, you never know if they could end up being one of your closest friends. Secondly, get involved on campus. If a club sounds interesting to you, join it! Again, it is an opportunity to meet people and get a break from classes and studying. Finally, have fun and smile! College is a once in a lifetime experience so take advantage of all of the opportunities that are given to you!
