Geneseo students have an outstanding record of community engagement and volunteer service. Students get involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Red Cross blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, Literacy Volunteers, Relay for Life, and many charity fundraisers. Many of our students choose to spend their college breaks helping to rebuild homes in Biloxi, Mississippi for people whose property was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Knights First Day of Service is a program designed for new transfer and first-year students who will begin their studies at Geneseo in the fall. Knights First Day of Service is a volunteer effort that gives you the opportunity to give back to Geneseo and the surrounding community while meeting and working with other new students. Students spend a Saturday morning in September at locations around Livingston County, helping people out in need--it could be painting a barn, cleaning up a trail in Letchworth State Park, serving a senior citizen, or organizing books at the library. We'll identify a project for you and you'll make new friends!
Sign up today to join your classmates on Saturday, September 7, 2013 (in memory of the victims of the attacks on 9/11) at locations around Livingston County. The program will run from 9:00am to 2:00pm and a luncheon will be provided. Space is limited, so sign up by August 31. http://go.geneseo.edu/knightservice
We look forward to seeing you on September 7 at 8:30am in the lobby of the MacVittie College Union.
This program is coordinated by the Volunteer Center & First-Year Programs.
