Knights First Day of Service

Knights First Day of Service

Geneseo students have an outstanding record of community engagement and volunteer service.  Students get involved with HOPE Youth Mentoring, Red Cross blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, Literacy Volunteers, Relay for Life, and many charity fundraisers.  Many of our students choose to spend their college breaks helping to rebuild homes in Biloxi, Mississippi and Staten Island & Long Island for people whose property was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina & Hurricane Sandy.

Knights First Day of Service
is a program designed for new transfer and first-year students who will begin their studies at Geneseo in the fall.  Knights First Day of Service is a volunteer effort that gives you the opportunity to give back to Geneseo and the surrounding community while meeting and working with other new students.  Students spend a Saturday morning in September at locations around Livingston County, helping people or programs--projects may include painting a barn, cleaning up a trail in Letchworth State Park, serving a senior citizen, or organizing books at the library.  We'll identify a project for you and you'll make new friends!  We plan this event near the beginning of September in memory of the victims of the attacks of 9/11.

Sign up today to join your classmates on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at locations around Livingston County.  The program will run from 8:00am to 2:00.  This includes a luncheon provided near campus for participants.  Space is limited, so sign up by August 31.

SUNY Geneseo is using GiveGab to facilitate registering for volunteer activities. Sign up at go.geneseo.edu/knightservice14

We look forward to seeing you on September 6!

This program is coordinated by the Volunteer Center & the Office of New Student Programs.
