GENESEO, N.Y. -- Some 600 SUNY Geneseo alumni and friends are returning for Summer Reunion July 9-11 for a full weekend of activities and entertainment on campus and in the village. One alumna from the class of 1935 is returning to celebrate the 75th anniversary of her graduation from the college.

The reunion coincides with the village's annual Summer Festival and Geneseo Air Show, making it one of the busiest weekends of the year in the community.

"We are elated at the number of alumni who have registered for the reunion this year and look forward to welcoming them home," said Rose Anderson, assistant vice president for alumni relations at the college. "Geneseo is a very special place for our alumni and we love having them come back to campus to relive memories with friends and faculty. We have a wonderful social and educational program planned to accommodate alumni of all ages."

All Geneseo alumni are welcome to attend the reunion. The college has planned special events for class members celebrating 50 or more years; members of the Alpha Kappa Phi sorority and Phi Sigma (Epsilon) Xi fraternity from the classes of 1964-74; and all alumni who attended Geneseo through the college's Access Opportunity Programs (AOP). AOP supports the higher educational aspirations of academically talented students who are under-represented at the post-secondary level of education.

In addition to numerous social events and celebrations at the reunion, the college is conducting an Alumni College, where alumni may attend courses taught by Geneseo faculty on such topics as "New Developments in Cancer Research," Life and Times of the Hubble Space Telescope," and "Why Dante Matters and Still Does." Among several entertainment offerings throughout the weekend, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Friday evening at the college's athletic fields as part of the Summer Festival.

The annual Alumni Association Awards will be presented at the President's Awards Luncheon Saturday. The college's Department of Education also will present its first Distinguished Alumni Educator Awards during a Saturday afternoon reception.

The entire reunion schedule and a registration form are available on the college's website. Additional information is available by calling the Geneseo Alumni Association at 585-245-5506 or by emailing alumni@geneseo.edu.
