GENESEO, N.Y. - Almost 1,000 SUNY Geneseo alumni and friends are returning for Summer Reunion July 8-10 for a full weekend of activities and entertainment on campus and in the village. One alumna from the class of 1935 is returning to celebrate the 76th anniversary of her graduation from the college.
The reunion coincides with the village's 25th Rotary Summer Festival and Geneseo Air Show, making it one of the busiest weekends of the year in the community.
"Alumni who have contacted us are very excited about the weekend and weather reports are spectacular," said Rose Anderson, assistant vice president for alumni relations at the college. "We look forward to welcoming all of our alumni back to campus. We have another wonderful social and educational program planned this year to accommodate alumni of all ages."
All Geneseo alumni are welcome to attend the reunion. The college has planned special events for class members celebrating 50 or more years; members of the Alpha Delta Epsilon sorority and Delta Kappa Tau fraternity; and a special celebration of Geneseo's library science alumni. In addition to numerous social events and celebrations at the reunion, the college is conducting an Alumni College, where alumni may attend special courses taught by Geneseo faculty. Among several entertainment offerings throughout the weekend, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Friday evening at the college's athletic fields as part of the Summer Festival.
The annual Alumni Association Awards will be presented at the President's Awards Luncheon Saturday and Minerva Award will be presented to alumni who have achieved excellence in librarianship.
