Geneseo Wind and
Jazz Ensembles Set for Oct. 30 Performance
GENESEO,
N.Y. – The Geneseo Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will open their fall season
with a joint concert Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. in the college’s Wadsworth
Auditorium. The concert is free and open
to the public.
“Invitation
to the Dance” is the theme for the Wind Ensemble, conducted by James Walker,
distinguished service professor of music, and will feature works such as “Four
Dances from West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein, “Dance of the Jester” by
Tchaikovsky, “Four Scottish Dances” by Malcolm Arnold and “Havendance”
by David Holsinger.
The Jazz
Ensemble, under the direction of Jonathan Kruger, will feature music in the
“Big Band Style” featuring works by Mike Tomaro, Lennie Niehauus, Victor Lopez and
Raper & Webster.
