GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Geneseo Foundation has elected David Turner, managing director and head of private equity for the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, to its board of directors.
The 1972 Geneseo graduate joined Guardian’s investment team in 2007 and led the roll-out and development of the company’s private equity initiative. He has more than 25 years of experience in private equity investing and portfolio management. He has originated and led more than 60 private equity investments totaling more than $4 billion in committed capital and managed portfolios totaling more than $17 billion in cumulative commitments.
“David Turner’s commitment to Geneseo is steadfast and we warmly welcome him to the board,” said Michael Catillaz, vice president for college advancement at Geneseo and executive director of the Geneseo Foundation. “He understands how a liberal education empowers students to face a changing world and we look forward to his expert guidance.”
Turner earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from Geneseo. As a student, he was involved with the college’s Chamber Singers, a highly professional ensemble that regular tours regionally and internationally. Turner has led the development of the Chamber Singers Endowment Fund. He lives in New Jersey with his wife, Kathleen. They have two children, Matthew and Shannon.
The Geneseo Foundation was established in 1971 as a private, non-profit organization to accept and administer gifts from alumni, friends and corporations, and manages endowment funds to benefit SUNY Geneseo students and faculty.
