SUNY Geneseo students to Relay for Life
Students already surpassed $60,000 goal
The State University of New York will be the site for one of the area's Relay for LifeĻ, a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. This is the first time this event will be held at SUNY Geneseo. During the relay, one member from each team must be walking at all times. Luminaries will be lit around the track, while student bands and a cappella groups perform in honor of the event. A cancer survivor also will speak. When the event concludes, the total dollars raised will be revealed, and each of the three top fund-raising teams and individuals will receive prizes.
Event begins today,
From 7 p.m. Friday, April 28, through 7 a.m. Saturday, April 29.
Kuhl Gymnasium in the Merritt Athletic Center at SUNY Geneseo.
SUNY Geneseo's Relay for LifeĻ is made up of more than 100 teams of eight to 15 people each—a total of about 900 members of the college and community. Each team has been working to raise as much money as possible to help the relay reach its goal of $60,000. Teams began fund raising on Jan. 31 and will continue through the relay. To date, the effort has raised $62,457, with the top team raising more than $1,845 and the top individual $2,611.
