Accents
Performing Arts Series Line-up
Released
GENESEO, N.Y.—The
2006-2007 Limelight & Accents Performing Arts Series promises again to be a
source of world-class entertainment for students and community members at the
State University of New York at Geneseo. This year's series brings diverse and
unique performances to the campus throughout the year.
"The Limelight & Accents
Performing Arts Series provides the College and the Geneseo community with
opportunities to experience professional music, dance, and theater. Our goal is
to bring students and community members together to explore and celebrate the
performing arts," says Jessica O'Connor, a junior special education major from
Tonawanda, N.Y. O'Connor is the 2006-2007 Limelight Coordinator for the
Activities Commission.
Kathleen Madigan will bring
her comedy routine to Geneseo at 8 p.m. Oct. 21 in Kuhl Gymnasium. Madigan, who
was voted best female stand-up at the American Comedy Awards, has appeared on
NBC's Last Comic Standing, The Tonight Show with Jan Leno, The Conan O'Brien
Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. The performance promises to
continue the tradition of fine comedy at the college. Tickets are $15 for

Next on the list of events
is the Philadelphia Virtuosi, who perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 4 in Wadsworth
Auditorium. The group brings together highly talented musicians for a night of
energetic orchestral music. Philadelphia Virtuosi plays popular masterworks,
world music, and newly commissioned works from guest artists. Tickets are $5
for students, $12 for faculty/staff/alumni and $15 for the general public. For

The MacKenzie Project makes
an appearance at 8 p.m. Feb. 17 in Wadsworth
Auditorium. The group is
known as one of the hottest bands on the Celtic music scene and features some
of the best musicians from the Celtic world. The MacKenzie Project's
performance combines instrumental medleys, vocals and step dance routines for a
truly unique Celtic experience. Tickets are $5 for students, $12 for faculty/staff/alumni

The Jabali Acrobats will
make an appearance at 8 p.m. on March 31 in Wadsworth Auditorium. The group of
acrobats from Kenya bring together a combination of athleticism and art in a
high-energy performance that promotes youth and positive thinking. Tickets are
$5 for students, $12 for faculty/staff/alumni and $15 for the general public.

The last event in the series
is the Koresh Dance Company, which will appear at 8 p.m. April 14 in Wadsworth
Auditorium. The high-energy Philadelphia based dance company combines classical
ballet with modern, artistic dance. The group performs to various music from around
the world. Tickets are $5 for students, $12 for faculty/staff/alumni and $15

"Limelight & Accents has
been taking place for over 30 years," says O'Connor. "We are very confident
that this year's series will have a great response from Geneseo students and
community members. We have already received numerous compliments about these
performances. For the past three years, we have been working extremely hard to
revamp the Limelight & Accents Performing Arts series into one that Geneseo
students and community members would be pleased with, and so far we are
accomplishing our goal."

purchased between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m.
Saturdays (except during holiday weekends) at the MacVittie College Union

may be purchased, depending on availability, on the evening of the event,
beginning one
hour before show time, in
the lobby of Wadsworth Auditorium or Kuhl Gymnasium, or at the union ticket office
for shows in the union ballroom.
The SUNY Geneseo Limelight
& Accents Series is funded by mandatory
Student Association fees and
coordinated by the college's Activities Commission.
