College Council
Member A. Gidget Hopf ’72 Receives
Executive of the Year Honors
A member
of the Geneseo College Council, A. Gidget Hopf ’72, president and chief executive officer of the
Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired-Goodwill of Greater Rochester,
was recently named 2009 Executive of the Year at the Greater Rochester Awards
luncheon, sponsored by the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Rochester
Business Journal.
The
award recognizes an individual CEO who has demonstrated consistent and
measurable business results, while also providing an invaluable service to
people throughout the community.
“I am
truly honored and genuinely humbled to be recognized by our community in this
way,” said Hopf, who also has served on the Geneseo
Alumni Association board. “I have had the pleasure of working for an
organization for which I care deeply, doing a job I have loved for more than 20
years, in a community that is unlike any other.
An honor such as this is truly a defining moment in my career.”
Hopf, who also has a doctorate of
education from George Washington University, has served as president and CEO of
ABVI-Goodwill for nearly 23 years. Under her leadership, the organization has
become one of the premier providers of vision rehabilitation services in the
country and one of the most entrepreneurial and successful not-for-profit
organizations in New York State.
