Andrea J. Klein appointed director of campus
scheduling and events at SUNY Geneseo
GENESEO,
N.Y. — Andrea J. Klein has been named director of campus scheduling and
events for the State University of New York at Geneseo.
Klein comes to Geneseo from SUNY College at Buffalo, where
she most recently served as the interim director of
the office of orientation and first-year programs. Her responsibilities
at Geneseo will include overseeing campus scheduling; special events, including
commencement and new student convocation; and coordinating existing academic
programs such as the First-Year Institute: the Geneseo Adirondack Experience.
She assumed her new duties Jan. 17.
In her new role, Klein will work with faculty, staff and
students to coordinate collegewide events such as homecoming and family
weekend, major guest lectures, conferences, and major presidential ceremonies.
She also will manage the sales and marketing efforts for summer conferencing
and entrepreneurial academic programs.
"Andrea Klein is a wonderful addition to our Geneseo
community. She brings a host of experiences and skills that will allow her to
hit the ground running," said Provost and Vice
President of Academic Affairs Katherine Conway-Turner. "We look forward to capitalizing on her enthusiasm and her
well-honed abilities in special events, special programming and scheduling."
Prior to her most recent role at
SUNY College at Buffalo, Klein served as the assistant director of the office
of orientation and first-year programs. In addition, she served as an
instructor/teaching assistant, helping first-year students with reading
comprehension and study skills, and as a student advisor and mentor to
undergraduate students on academic probation or in need of guidance and support
in their academic pursuits and personal wellness.
"It is a great honor to become part of the SUNY Geneseo
community. As a lifelong Western New Yorker, I have interacted with this campus
on several occasions: my sister attended college here, I attended music camps
here during high school, and I have seen some wonderful music ensembles perform
in the Wadsworth Auditorium over the years. How exciting to now be in the role
of planning great events for this campus," said Klein.
"I look forward to the wonderful
opportunities that await me here, opportunities that will challenge me to
grow professionally and personally. I also look forward to working with the
people of this campus community who make Geneseo the well-respected institution
it is today."
Klein, a resident of Warsaw, N.Y., received her bachelor's
degree in business studies and her master's degree in student personnel
administration from SUNY College at Buffalo.
