THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9:
LEDERER GALLERY: The School of the Arts and the Bertha V.B. Lederer Gallery in Brodie
Hall present "Inspired by Her," a two-woman show featuring the work of Dawn
Hunter Phelps and Kate Kretz and inspired by the physical and psychological
states of women. The gallery is
open noon-4 p.m. Sundays–Wednesdays and 5-8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. The exhibit runs through Sunday, Nov.
19.
LOCKHART GALLERY: The Lockhart Gallery, located in the McClellan House, 26 Main Street,
Geneseo, presents "The Art of Science". This
exhibition of contemporary artists reveals the art (sometimes in its aesthetic
beauty, sometimes in its awe-inspiring power) that is found in science. The
exhibit includes the work of nationally and internationally recognized local
artists: Doug Anderson and Dan
DeZarn, faculty in Geneseo's School of the
Arts, and Andrew Davidhazy and Michael Peres, faculty of photographic science
at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Also on view from the gallery's permanent collection is Jane Jeffrey's
scientific watercolor illustrations of insects. The gallery is open
noon-4 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and noon-8 p.m. on Thursdays. The event runs Nov. 7 through Dec.
12. This event is in conjunction
with the dedication of the Integrated Science Center at SUNY Geneseo.
LECTURE: The anthropology department
will present a lecture by A. Tom Grunfeld, a professor of history at Empire
State College in New York City at 4 p.m. in 214 Newton Hall. The talk is free

DANCE: Orchesis presents Orchesis Dance at 7:30 p.m. in Alice Austin Theatre,
Brodie Hall. This high-energy
performance is a collection of student-choreographed dances including hip hop,
salsa, lyrical, tap and more.

CONCERT: The Activities Commission has announced this years annual fall
concert will feature Ben Folds at 8 p.m in Kuhl Gymnasium. Tickets are $15 for
students, $18 for faculty and staff and $22 for the general public and can be
purchased through the Student Association Ticket Office in person or by

LECTURE: Laura Doan, professor of cultural history and
sexuality studies, as well as English and American studies, at the School of
Arts, Histories and Cultures at the University of Manchester, will be the
featured speaker at the second annual Rose Alent Lecture and Bash. The lecture
takes place at 4 p.m. in the Alice Austin Theater, Brodie Hall. The bash will
follow at 5 p.m. in the Brodie Lounge.
