Award-Winning Concert Pianist Robert Auler Set For SUNY Geneseo Performance Oct. 4

GENESEO, N.Y. – Robert Marshall Auler, an award-winning American concert pianist, will perform works by a variety of composers during a concert Oct. 4 at the State University of New York at Geneseo.  The event begins at 3 p.m. in the college’s Wadsworth Auditorium.  Tickets are $5 for the general public, $3 for students and will be sold only at the door.

Auler has won numerous competitions, including first prize from the Society of American Musicians.  Following his success in the Young Keyboard Artists’ Association piano competition, he was invited to perform throughout Germany, France, the Netherlands and Denmark.  He also has performed in Venezuela and Austria. 

He also has performed in concerts throughout the United States, including New York, where he made his Carnegie Hall debut in June 2004.  As a chamber musician, he has appeared with the Ying Quarter and the MIRO Quartet and has performed with the Northwest Florida Symphony, the ARC Ensemble in Ohio, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony in Illinois and numerous other regional orchestras.

Auler is entering his seventh season as piano professor at SUNY Oswego.  He is a keen advocate of new music, having worked with William Bolcom, Steve Reich, Leslie Bassett, Martin Bresnick, Rudolf Haken, Frederic Rzewski, Jonathan Pieslak and Carter Pann.  The Geneseo concert will include works by Pieslak, Haken, and Pann in addition to compositions by George Gershwin, Samuel Barber and Nikolai Kapustin.
