SUNY Geneseo is the most selective of all SUNY campuses and one of the most selective public undergraduate universities in the country.  Our university has consistently ranked #1 or #2 on the U.S. News list of Top U.S. Public Universities in the North for the past decade.  Because of its selectivity, Geneseo serves as a de facto “honors college” for the State of New York – a public liberal arts university of the highest quality open to the most talented students.

Fiske Guide Places Geneseo among 44 Best-Buy Schools in the US, Canada, and UK

SUNY Geneseo is among 44 “Best Buy Schools” in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom, named in the 2015 edition of “The Fiske Guide to Colleges.” Inclusion on the list in the highly respected publication is based on the quality of academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance.

The guide is authored by former New York Times education editor Edward Fiske, who launched the guide in 1980 when he sensed that college-bound students and their families needed better information on which to base their educational choices. Not only does the guide have an “Index by Price” that groups public and private institutions into four price categories, from inexpensive to very expensive, but also suggests a number of schools that offer outstanding academics and high quality student life programs with relatively moderate prices.

The guide accepts no consulting, advertising or other fees from colleges and has no outside relationship with colleges working on its behalf.  The goal of the publication is to help future students select the best colleges to reach their own goals in a price range that is manageable for their personal circumstances.
