Services for Employers

The Office of Career Development at the State University of New York at Geneseo invites you to consider our students and alumni for full-time positions available within your organization. For part-time, summer and internship opportunities, contact the Student Employment Service.

Office of Career Development staff can assist you with identifying qualified students and alumni in a number of ways:

On-Campus Recruitment

Many employers select convenient date(s) during the academic year to visit campus and interview qualified candidates. The Office of Career Development houses private interview rooms and our recruitment coordinator will guide you through a simple scheduling process. You may also elect to prescreen candidates by requesting resumes prior to your recruitment date and indicating the names of the students that you wish to interview. For more information, contact Phyllis Wixom at (585) 245-5721 or wixom@geneseo.edu.

Job Posting

Many organizations have found Geneseo to be a particularly effective source of candidates and include our office on a regular mailing list. You may either phone, fax, mail, or e-mail your job vacancy to us and we will publish it on our web site.

If you'd like, you can to post your vacancies directly to our  Knight Jobs web site.  We are in the process of implementing this new site.  Contacts with a known email address will soon be contacted with log in information.  In the meantime, if you have posted with us before, please call 585-245-5721 for your user name and email.  If you have never posted with Geneseo, please click on the register link.

Resume Collection

Resume collection is an easy process. It involves notifying students of an available position and requesting interested students to submit a resume by a given date. The Office of Career Development handles all the details and then forwards the resumes to you. Your organization may then contact these students individually. For more information, contact Phyllis Wixom at (585) 245-5721 or wixom@geneseo.edu.

Informational Presentations or Meetings

Employers may find it advantageous to visit campus to meet with students to discuss the nature of their organization and hiring needs, or to share specific information about a given occupational opportunity. An informational presentation prior to on-campus recruitment is an excellent way to promote the interview date and to avoid repetition of basic information during interviewing. We will be happy to work with you to arrange a date, location, audiovisual equipment, etc.

Resource Library

The Office of Career Development houses a resource library that students can use to learn about occupations, graduate schools and potential employers. Your organization’s informational literature and/or recruitment brochures are a valuable resource for our students researching employers, preparing for interviews, etc. Please feel free to forward literature at any time.

Special Programs

Throughout the year, we sponsor or work in conjunction with other groups to present special programs such as graduate school night, career information and recruitment fairs for targeted populations, electronic resume service and career panels.
