Our newest career assessment tool designed for those who are looking to learn more about which careers would be a good fit for them. It is one of the most advanced education and career planning systems available, combining the unique capabilities of the Internet with thoroughly researched information about occupations, work-related values, interests, personality types, skills, educational programs, and more.

StrengthsQuest®

StrengthsQuest’s foundation comes from Positive Psychology and the Clifton StrengthsFinder.  It has helped over 500,000 individuals in school environments achieve academic, career, and personal success.  The assessment will generate a report of your top five strengths (out of 34).  StrengthsQuest will help you discover your greatest natural talents, help you make the most of those natural talents, apply those talents to career exploration, and maximize your potential for strengths by building on talents rather than focusing on weaknesses.  An individual appointment with a Career Development counselor is advised to receive access information and a follow-up appointment for interpretation. 

Strong Interst Inventory

The Strong Interest Inventory® assessment provides research-validated insights to help you in your search for a rich, fulfilling career. The Strong empowers you to discover your interests so you can better identify, understand, and expand your career options.

The Strong generates an in-depth assessment of your interests among a broad range of occupations, work, and leisure activities, and educational subjects. To reveal your interest patterns, it presents results on a variety of complementary themes and scales:

  • General Occupational Themes map out broad interest patterns to describe personalities and preferred work environments.
  • Basic Interest Scales provide more specific information about your areas of interest.
  • Occupational Scales relate your interest patterns to those of satisfied workers within the occupation.
  • Personal Style Scales describe your preferred style of working, learning, leading, risk-taking, and team participation.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI)

Taken by over 2 million people a year, the MBTI helps you better understand yourself and how you interact with others.  The computer-based assessment will reveal a four letter type that focuses on where you draw your energy from, how you take in information, your decision-making style, and how you organize your day.  The assessment  will generate a Career Report that will help you identify occupational categories, review specific occupations, explore majors that are a fit for your preferences, and help you identify strengths and potential weaknesses that affect your career development process.  An individual appointment with a Career Development counselor is advised to receive access information and a follow-up appointment for interpretation.

All assessments are free of charge for Geneseo students and alumni.
