Geneva, Ohio – Members of the Geneseo women’s track & field team
competed at the Spire Midwest Open Saturday. Highlighting the Knights’
performance at the non-scoring, multi-division meet were six top-three performances.
The distance medley relay team recorded a first-place finish with a time of
12:14.14, which stands as the nation’s fourth-fastest this season. The team was
comprised of sophomore Keira Wood (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North), junior Allison
Hoh (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima), senior Cailin Kowalewski (Fredonia/Fredonia)
and
graduate student Alyssa Smith (Rochester/Brighton).
Wood was the runner-up in the 800-meter run; her time of 2:14.60 ranks ninth in
the nation. Smith placed third in the mile run (5:05.56), also recording the
nation’s ninth-fastest time.
Sophomores Cassie Goodman (Phelps/Midlakes) and Joanna Castrogivanni (Smithtown/West)
took second and third, respectively in the 5,000-meter run. Goodman’s time of
18:18.69 and Castrogivanni’s 18:24.61 effort were both Eastern College Athletic
Conference (ECAC) Championship qualifying marks.
Junior Mary Aldridge (Rochester/Brighton) posted an ECAC-qualifying performance
in the 3,000-meter run, placing third in 10:22.64.
