GENESEO,
N.Y. – The Geneseo women’s swimming & diving team (4-5) recorded nine
first-place finishes in a 142-62 win over visiting Monroe Community College
(3-2) Wednesday.
Junior Emily Wanamaker (Camillus/Christian Brothers Academy) swept the diving
events for the second straight meet, recording winning scores of 423.15 in the
one-meter competition and 236.80 on the three-meter board.
Sophomore Abby Max (New Hartford/New Hartford) and junior Corinne Vairo (Poquott/Ward
Melville) won the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.60) and 100-yard backstroke
(1:05.99), respectively, and teamed with junior Lauren Boyce (New Hartford/New
Hartford) and sophomore Eileen Goralski (Queensbury/Queensbury) to finish first
in the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.26).
First year Jenna Gibbons (Staten Island/Staten Island Tech) placed first in the
500-yard freestyle (5:32.60), sophomore Haleigh Wixson (Montour Falls/Watkins
Glen) took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.74), sophomore Katherine Jesaitis (Clifton
Park/Shenendehowa) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.39) and senior Erin
Dewey (Albany/Guilderland) was the winner in the 100-yard breaststroke
(1:13.86).
The Knights return to action Saturday, traveling to Carnegie Mellon to face the
host Tartans and Westminster.
