The State University of New York Athletic Conference recognized two SUNY Geneseo student-athletes as athletes of the week as announced on Monday, September 13.
Junior Lee Berube and sophomore Marissa Liberati earned SUNYAC Runner of the Week honors for men's and women's cross country, respectively, for their performance at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Saturday.
Berube placed 13th at the primarily Division I meet, where he was the first Division III participant across the line, while Liberati finished 25th overall and first among Division III competitors.
After a strong performance at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Saturday, the men's cross country team moved up one spot to #1 in the USTFCCCA Division III Atlantic Region poll as released on Tuesday, September 14.
The Geneseo women remained at #2 in the regional poll for the second consecutive week.
As released on Wednesday, September 15, the men's cross country team moved up one spot to #5 in the latest USTFCCCA Division III National poll, surpassing New York University in both the regional and national listings.
On the women's side, the Blue Knights advanced three spots to #6 nationally, moving past Calvin, MIT and Whitworth. The women's team remains second in the region behind #2-nationally ranked St. Lawrence.
