| Head Coach Scott Hemer A native of North Collins, New York, Scott Hemer begins his sixth season with the Knights in 2012-13. In his first year, Hemer's team rebounded from a 2-10 start to win 10 of their final 14 games and last season, the Knights posted a winning record of 16-11. In 2010-11, the Blue Knights raced to a 26-4 mark, the SUNYAC regular season (17-1) and tournament championship and a bid to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time since 1997. Hemer claimed SUNYAC, Division III Region 2 and Basketball Association of New York Coach of the Year recognition. Hemer came to Geneseo after spending six years as the head coach at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York. He guided the Cougars to a record of 147-40 over six seasons and in 2006-07 participated in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National tournament after winning the NJCAA Western New York Athletic Conference, Region III and District C championships. Hemer was the 2006-07 NJCAA National District C Coach of the Year, earned NJCAA Region III Coach of the Year on three occasions and mentored five NJCAA All-Americans during his tenure. A 1995 graduate of Saint Bonaventure University with a bachelor’s degree in history with a secondary education certificate, Hemer’s coaching background includes four years as the varsity girls coach at Gowanda High School, where he was a junior high school social studies teacher from 1996-2001. In addition, Hemer spent one season as an assistant coach at Fredonia State and three years as the head coach of the Enchanted Mountains Basketball Club Under 16 A.A.U. team.
