Senior Eddie Novara won a pair of events to lead the Geneseo men's outdoor track and field team to a second place finish at the 2012 SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field championships at Oneonta as the Blue Knights scored 156.5 points to champion Cortland's 171.5. Novara won the 10,000 meters in a time of 31:50.38 and captured the 1,500 meters in 3:58.10. Geneseo scored most of their points in the distance events as senior Lee Berube won the 5,000 meters in a SUNYAC meet record time of 14:43.44 and finished third in the 10,000 meters in 32:08.05. Junior Chris Mateer finished second in the 10K in 32:06.21 and was third in the 5K in 15:19.82, while junior Alex Brimstein was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:17.84 and second in the 5K in 15:09.94. Senior Colin Keenan won the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters, while senior Wenley Louis was second in the long jump in 7.12 meters and second in the triple jump in 14.16 meters. Junior Brendan Murphy took third in the hammer throw with a toss of 47.00 meters and first year Phil Longo was third in the high jump with 1.88 meters. Geneseo travels to the Allegheny Gator Invitational on Friday.
Senior Kelly Brunscheen won the 800 meters in a meet record time of 2:12.84 and teamed with first year Allison Hoh, junior Cailin Kowalewski and first year Keira Wood to place second in the 4X400 relay (3:58.19) as the Geneseo women's outdoor track and field team finished second with 131 points to Cortland's 191.50 at the 2012 SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field championships in Oneonta. Junior Marissa Liberati and sophomore Mary Aldridge posted wins for the Blue Knights with a 10:56.36 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and a 4:43.07 in the 1,500 meters, respectively. Wood and Kowalewski were 2-3 in the 800 meters with times of 2:13.42 and 2:14.67, Hoh placed second in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.84 and senior Julie Cook finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.58 meters. Liberati was fourth in the 5,000 meters in 18:14.81 and junior Diahann Cuevo was fourth in the 200 meters (26.39) and fifth in the 100 meters (13.11). The Blue Knights travel to the Allegheny Gator Invitational on Friday.
