The men's indoor track and field team traveled to RIT this afternoon and saw three individuals post first place ECAC-qualifying performances. Junior Lee Berube led a 1-3 finish in the mile run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:16.37 as senior Mark Streb finished second in 4:25.49 and Bobby Henchen placed third in 4:29.35. Junior Nwana Okafor won the long jump in an ECAC distance of 6.85 meters and finished third in the triple jump in 12.20 meters, while Mike McManus won the high jump with an ECAC height of 1.93 meters. Junior Matthew Hart won the 200 in 23.55 and placed third in the 55 dash in 6.72 seconds and Anthony George topped a 1-3 sweep of the 1,000 meters in 2:36.48 as Dave Szymkowiak ran 2:36.95 and Alex Brimstein raced to a 2:37.55. Senior Eric Rickman finished second with an ECAC-qualifying toss of 14.53 in the shot put, Colin Keenan was second in the 55 dash in 6.68 and A.J. Corcoran ran second in the 5,000 meters in 15:44.60. Geneseo is off for the semester break and returns to action on Saturday, January 15 at RIT.
The women's indoor track and field team participated at the RIT Early Season Opener this afternoon and the Blue Knights finished 1-2-3 in the mile run to highlight the day. Junior Julie Dmochowski won the race in 5:25.07, Kelly Brunscheen finished second in 5:31.16 and Celeste Hoelzl was third in 5:31.93. Sophomore Rachel Serpe finished second in the pole vault, topping 3.03 meters, while Jessica Shumway and Carly Biondi tied for second in the high jump at 1.47 meters. Geneseo saw four individuals finish in third place as Diahann Cuevo ran a 7.84 in the 55 dash, Samantha Hudson crossed in 28.18 in the 200 meters, Carolyn Mahon ran a 1:22.47 in the 500 meters and Jessica Jaroszko finished the 55 hurdles in 9.31. Geneseo is off for the semester break and returns to action at RIT on January 15.
