The women's cross country team opened their season at the Daniel Walker Invitational at Buffalo State and finished second of 11 teams with 46 points. Division II Edinboro placed first with 24. First year Mary Aldridge finished third to lead the Knights with a time of 18:55. Geneseo's Erin Dorset placed sixth in 19:20, first year Celeste Hoelzl was 10th in 19:35, junior Ashley Jones was 13th in 19:40 and Julie Dmochowski completed the scoring five in 14th at 19:44. The Blue Knights split squad will compete at Penn State and Brockport on Saturday.

First year Patrick Wortner finished 14th to lead the Knights with a time of 26:44. Geneseo's Matt Knott placed 16th in 26:56, Brandon Rosenberg was 27th in 27:20, first year Ethan Koreff was 29th in 28:21 and Alex Brimstein completed the scoring five in 38th at 28:31. The Blue Knights split squad will compete at Penn State and Brockport on Saturday.
The women's soccer team took on host St. Lawrence in the championship game of the Lotto Tournament and dropped a 1-0 decision as the Saints scored at the 54:46 mark to claim the win. Geneseo controlled the shots, 17-10, and the corners, 8-1, but could not break through the Saints' defense. Senior Katie Clerkin made four saves to take the loss. Geneseo's Bella Masotti, Anne Beinetti and Olivia Panepinto earned All-Tournament team recognition. The Knights fall to 1-1 on the season and host Elmira on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The men's soccer team travelled to Salisbury, Maryland this afternoon and dropped a 2-1 decision to the nationally 10th-ranked Seagulls. Salisbury scored at 32:27 and 47:01 to take a 2-0 lead. Geneseo junior Ian Mort netted his second goal of the season at 49:45 on a throw-in assist by senior Ben Ariola, but the Blue Knights could not gain the equalizer over the final 40 minutes. Junior Sam Murphy made six saves to take the loss in nets. Geneseo plays St. Mary's of Maryland on Sunday.
The women's field hockey team travelled to Hamilton this afternoon and fell to the Continentals by a count of 4-2. Hamilton scored twice in the first half to open the lead before senior Erin Zalewski scored her first of the season from sophomore Katie Gallo at 25:48 to cut the lead to one at the intermission. The Continentals extended the lead at 44:02, but Geneseo made it 3-2 at 60:40 when first year Kayla DeAngelis netted her second of the year from senior Michelle Milkovich. Sophomore Caitlyn Dowell made two saves to take the loss. The Blue Knights travel to Houghton on Tuesday.
The women's volleyball team continued with the NYU tournament today and dropped a pair of matches. The Knights lost to Coast Guard by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 26-24. First year Noelle Morrison had 22 assists, senior Krista Frieling added 10 kills, sophomore Laura Galvin contributed 11 digs and first year Alysia Negron totaled nine digs. In the final match of the weekend, Geneseo lost to FDU-Florham, 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17. Galvin dished out 18 assists, Frieling had 18 kills, junior Alex Hughes added 22 digs and junior Jackie Inserillo contributed 15 digs. Frieling earned All-Tournament team honors. Geneseo falls to 2-3 on the season and travels to the Ithaca tournament on Friday.
