NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Selections
The pairings and sites for the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball tournament were announced on Monday, February 28 and the Geneseo Blue Knights will be hosting a pair of first round games on Friday, March 4 and a second round contest on Saturday, March 5.
The Blue Knights (25-3) received an automatic bid to the tournament following their 55-48 win over Oneonta in the SUNYAC Tournament title game and will face the DeSales University Bulldogs (19-8), who won their fourth straight Freedom Conference championship to earn the automatic bid, at 8 p.m.
Geneseo makes their sixth appearance in the national tournament and first since 1997. The Blue Knights made five consecutive appearances from 1993-97 with a tournament record of 7-5, reaching the final eight in 1993 and 1995.
The other first round match at Geneseo features the Medaille College Mavericks (22-4), who received a Pool C berth after falling to LaRoche in the Allegany Mountain College Conference title game, and the Babson Beavers (27-0), who won their third straight NEWMAC championship, beginning at 6 p.m.
The winners play in the second round on Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens and are available at the door.
