GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s basketball team (8-4, 5-1 SUNYAC) maintained sole possession of first place in the State University of Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), rolling to a 78-58 rout of visiting Potsdam (4-8, 1-5 SUNYAC) Saturday.

The Knights made their first eight three-point shots and shot 58.8 percent (10 of 17) from behind the arc for the game. Geneseo’s defense allowed a season-low 58 points and the Knights 11 turnovers were their lowest total of the year.

Geneseo shot 60 percent from the floor for the game in the first half and finished with a field-goal percentage of 56.3 percent, raising their Division III-best shooting accuracy to 53.8 percent.

Junior forward Jordan Jones (Rochester/McQuaid Academy) scored a game-best 15 points. Junior guard Connor Fedge (Bellport/Bellport) and junior forward Matt Curry (Greenlawn/Harborfields) netted 13 apiece. Curry’s total included four three-point baskets. Sophomore forward Gordon Lyons (Amherst/Canisius) led all players with nine rebounds and three assists and scored eight points. Curry pulled down seven rebounds.

The Knights used a 20-3 run to erase Potsdam’s 9-6 lead after allowing the Bears to score seven of the game’s first nine points. After bursting out to a 26-12 advantage 11:24 into the first game, Geneseo maintained a double-digit lead for all but 20 seconds the rest of the game. The Bears trailed by as many as 28 points after the Knights opened the second half with a 12-0 run.

The Knights continue conference play Tuesday with an 8 p.m. game at Buffalo State
