| Head Coach Mike Woods Head coach Mike Woods begins his 21st year as the mentor for the men's and women's cross country teams in 2012-13. In 2004, Woods stepped down as the head coach of indoor and outdoor track and field teams, but will stay on as an assistant coach for those programs. Woods has become one of Geneseo's most successful coaches, completing an unprecedented sweep of the six 2003 SUNYAC titles. On the women's side in 2011, Woods guided the Knights to their 18th appearance in the NCAA Division III championships (17 under Woods), where they won the college's first team NCAA Division III National Championship in 2005, finished fifth in 2007 and ninth in 2009. On the men's side in 2011, Woods led the Knights to the NCAA Division III meet for the ninth straight year, where they posted a program-best fourth place finish after winning the SUNYAC title. Overall, Woods has led Geneseo to 21 SUNYAC Cross Country titles (10 men's, 11 women's), seven SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field championships (four women's, three men's) and four SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field wins (three women's, one men's). The Knights have won 10 NYSCTC women's cross country championships, three NYSCTC women's indoor track and field titles and a pair of NYSCTC women's outdoor track and field crowns. In addition, Woods has sent Geneseo athletes to 48 of a possible 49 NCAA Division III championship competitions, including the women's cross country team in 16 of his 19 tries. Woods has also been recognized by his peers as a top coach as he was recognized as the national coach of the year in women's cross country in 2005. Woods was the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in men's cross country in 1993, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011 and was the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in women's cross country in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. In addition, Woods was named the Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in women's cross country in 2000, 2002 and 2005 and in men's cross country in 2003 and 2004. He was the SUNYAC Coach of the Year for both men and women in indoor and outdoor track and field for 2003 and for women both indoor and outdoor in 2004. Woods has produced 23 All-Americans who have won 60 certificates in cross country and track and field in his 20 years. Prior to coming aboard at Geneseo, Woods coached cross country at York Central High School for 21 years with a dual meet record of 219-24 and track and field at York for 20 years with a dual meet record of 208-36. Woods, who earned his Bachelors degree in 1969 and his Masters degree in 1978 from SUNY Geneseo, retired from York Central High School where he served as an English teacher.
