Now you can have a free permanent e-mail address that NEVER changes and is affiliated with your alma mater! Even when you change jobs or e-mail providers, your free permanent e-mail address remains the same. All you have to do is come back and change your forwarding e-mail address.
Log in to U-Knight, Geneseo's online alumni community, and select "Permanent Email".
Select a name that will be the first part of your permanent email address (eg. firstname.lastname@example.org).Choose your mail name carefully. Your mail name cannot be changed once activated.
Requirements: Only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), underscore (_), dash(-), and dot(.) are allowed. Minimum of 3 characters, maximum of 30 characters please.
Supply a forwarding e-mail address that will receive e-mails addressed to your permanent e-mail address. Your forwarding address is the e-mail address you use at work or for personal use (e.g., email@example.com).
Please enter your forwarding email address carefully, then select [Continue].
Graduating seniors can sign up for a permanent geneseo email address (see above) (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Your undergraduate Geneseo email account will expire two months after you leave the College; please create a new email account to use before this occurs. There are many free web-based email providers to choose from, and most Internet Service Providers offer email accounts to their customers. Geneseo provides a few options to make this transition easier. You can setup email forwarding. This will send any emails sent to your Geneseo account to any account you specify. You can setup a vacation auto-reply. This sends a message that you can put your new email address into. Any email that is still saved on your Geneseo email account will not automatically be forwarded. You will need to manually forward any messages you wish to keep to your new email address. If you have an email client (such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or Mac Mail) set up to get your mail through our IMAP server, you can drag the server folders to your local computer.
Your KnightWeb User ID and PIN will remain active after leaving Geneseo. You can access Knightweb to review your academic and financial records at any time. Graduates will gain access to KnightWeb Alumni. Knightweb Alumni will allow you to update personal information, find a classmate, submit classnotes as well as a host of other features.
Geneseo Licensed Software
Any software listed as Academic Software on http://software.geneseo.edu/ is available only to current students. You must remove this software upon leaving the College. You can do this by going to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel on a Windows computer.
Like email, any files that you have saved to our Main or Files servers will be deleted two months after you leave Geneseo. Please be sure to back up any of this data that you wish to keep before leaving campus. Most computers on campus have CD-R drives which you can use to copy your files to recordable CD.
